i have a couple of questions for hardcore online gamers like you all. i hope you would answer my queries.

@All:
S3 works in my office and needs some help on the topic so we'd appreciate your input and opinions, I know I can prob write a book on the topic, but that would be my opinion and not everyones ...

@S3:
I think i'm the only resident-Pakistani actively posting on the forums, so don't expect much on the second point, try google for that or bug me tomorrow ...

but for Point 1 and 2 i'm sure we've got tons of opinions and perspectives here ...

and here is the topic starter ...

Considering we all complain of lag and all ... what would life be like playing an MMO on a 56.6k modem.

Would it even be possible or would we be stuck playing the spades and backgammon which come with windows due to the sheer lack of bandwidth?

more like a survey ... gathering of different viewpoints if you must.

Since I work in the media, I try to ensure least my mates get heard ... which is why I directed S3 in your directions ...

now start talking ...

At all other forums Ive been to we banned guys like these who spread surveys/spam without permission.

Also I realise now Ive probably missed the 1st section of xs's 1st post. So I guess he was welcome.

Now back to the survey :)

1. Never had tried the internet without broadband because of the prices.

2. -

3. I believe there's tons of mmo's for everybody right now. Both good and bad games. Old and new.

I don't agree here with you... if you would have a great provider for the use of the 56.6k modem i'm sure you wouldn't have much problems in many MMOs... the transfer rate in many games seems to be ~3-4-5KB/s and the 56.6k modem has a max speed of 7KB/s.
The bigest problem would be the downloading and the patching of the game but the gameplay would be decent i guess. biggest issue for lag is the server of the game provider and the pingtime both not influenced by it's own max bandwith but by the game providers servers and the internet provider of the user...

It gave possibility to create Large Groups of ppl like We are. I cant imagine playing with 56k Modem so for me broadband=online gaming.

1. I can't imagine playing without broadband (partly because i haven't) but also it could be the very slow downloading speed of the clients themselves.

3. Online gaming has expanded so much over the past few years which has brought about groups like ours. Im sure he have groups in at least 5 different games here and just look how big the community is...we have 478 registered users and this is only for 1 group (ok we got some outsiders) from a part of the game.

Hope this helps.

LOL @ li and Mainie!!!

1. Broadband kicks arses ... however I'm waiting for T1 connection for the new virtual world. Sorry was off topic ... BB made me a more happy gamer, a more chatter-box, and I can download patches faster so which means it cut down my time in watching porns since I don't have to wait for the patching.

2. Regarding this question... hmm ... hard to say... since I don't live in Pakistan, but I believe every gamers in Pakistan will be playing or enjoying online games if there isn't any civil war (correct me here I think I'm wrong) or coup de tat in government. (I think I'm off topic here ... let me google for scope!!)

3. It's hectic... but it's all the same everywhere you play. You play an online game for free, but you have to pay real cash just to be stronger or more gears... you know what I mean!!!
