PostFinal Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV or as some might call it Final Fantasy 14 ... I've definitely seen better trailers out there but since Final Fantasy has such a massive following thought I'd share this too :)

Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Square Enix's long-in-development follow-up to its original Final Fantasy MMO finally has a release date. The Japanese publisher announced today that Final Fantasy XIV for Windows will ship worldwide in September. Those looking for the PlayStation 3 version will have to wait until 2011.

The game's standard PC edition will officially launch on September 30, retail for $49.99 and include a free month of gameplay. A special Collector's Edition will also be available, and along with the free month, it will feature a number of in-game and packaged items, including eight days early access to the game (September 22).

Monthly subscriptions will run $12.99. For an extra $3, gamers can add an additional character (up to eight characters possible), and for another $1 players can add an additional retainer NPC that maintains items and storage.

Square Enix also announced the game's beta testing will begin in early July. North American sign-ups are available at http://entry.ffxiv.com/na/index.html.

The publisher did not provide any details on the PlayStation 3 delay, but it did say Final Fantasy XIV will be available on the PS3 sometime in March 2011.
